From the Page to the Screen.....Harry Potter & the Chamber of Secrets

Any true fan of a book will almost never agree with all the decisions made when a piece of beloved fiction gets made into a movie.  These are just one reader's thoughts on this.  Some of these are very small things that most people don't give a crap about, others are things you've probably already heard many times in forums & some will be things you giggle a bit or scream "YES!" while you read this.

Things I Wish Were in the Movie

~  The Dursleys losing their shit just from Harry using the word "magic".

~  Harry's time at the burrow was a really good, albeit short escape from the Dursleys treatment of their unwanted relative.  Harry enjoying casual games of quidditch, then something as tedious and normal as the magical chore of de-gnoming a garden.  I always loved all the moments of Harry loving the discovery of new experiences in the magical world.

~  One thing I hated that they changed was the confrontation between Arthur Weasley & Lucius Malfoy at Flourish & Blotts on Diagon Alley.  I would have cheered along with the twins to see the fistfight from the book.

What I Am Glad Was Not

~  Professor Lockhart's Valentine's Day festivities...I seriously can not stand Gilderoy Lockhart.  He is the Jar Jar Binks of the Harry Potter universe for me.

On The Fence

~  Sir Nicholas(Nearly Headless Nick)'s Deathday Celebration.  On the one hand, seeing all the ghosts congregating & such could have been very cool-looking.  The other hand to me was the gross food that had been left out to go bad for the ghosts rubbed me the wrong way.

~  Professor Binns talking about the legend of the Chamber of Secrets.  It had the possibility of being funny seeing a ghostly history of magic professor being coaxed into discussing a supposed legend.  let's just face it, Minerva McGonagall is awesome   :)

From the Page to the Screen.....Harry Potter and the Sorceror's Stone

From the Page to the Screen.....Harry Potter & the Sorceror's Stone

This is something I started to do a while back.  I have a few friends with whom I debate certain books with & how those books got translated into movies.  Any true fan of a book will never completely agree with ALL the decisions made when a piece of beloved fiction gets made into a movie.  These are just one reader's thoughts on this.  Some of these are very small things that most people don't give a crap about, others are things that you've probably already heard screamed in forums somewhere

Things I Wish Were In The Movie

~  Professor McGonagall's human-like behavior while in her animagus cat form.  This was something very small in the book that I thought was great to read.

~  Fred & George Weasley promising to send a Hogwarts toilet seat to Ginny.  This repeats itself later in the book as they try to send one to Harry while he is in the infirmary   :)

~  The Sorting Song...I thought these were great and would've been great in the movies

~  Peeves...to any true fan of Harry Potter, this needs no explanation...what-so-ever.  I am seriously baffled as to why the exclusion of Peeves the Poltergeist

~  The dragon transport...this was a great scene in the book.  It introduces Charlie Weasley (even though he is not seen).  It has a dragon crate being transported by wizards on brooms and  Malfoy getting in trouble  :P

~  The Potions Riddle...I thought it would have been really cool to have in the movie.  Harry had his scene flying around with the keys & Ron had the Wizard's chess.  The Potions Riddle was Hermione's moment in the end of the book.  It also stood as proof that Professor Snape was helping with the defense of the stone.

What I Am Glad Was Not

~  The School Song...it's annoying as hell.  That is my sole reasoning

Random Facts Part II

Random Facts Part II

~  Years ago, I was given the gift of a customizable lightsaber.  I love owning it & often play around with various hilt designs & changing the color of the blade.  For the first week or so after receiving it, I could not turn it on without giggling like a fanboy.

~  I am a nerd, but also a bit of a jock.  Offer me the chance to hit the batting cage, toss the frisbee or play soccer & you have my attention.

~  When it comes to video games, I love BioWare.  The Mass Effect Trilogy & Dragon Age series are among my favorites of all time.

~  I am a big comic book nerd.  Spidey & Captain America have always been my choices above others.  For comics & movies, I go with Marvel...for TV & animated movies, I favor DC.

~  Musically, I lean towards rock, hard rock & metal...with a little bit of techno & rap on occasion.  My favorite band of all-time is The Mighty Mighty Bosstones.  I saw them at my very first concert & have seen them more than a dozen times since.

~  If I had the chance to interview any five individuals or groups in the entertainment industry, it would be (in no particular order)...

1.  George Lucas
2.  J.K. Rowling & the main cast members of the Harry Potter series
3.  Stan Lee
4.  Metallica
5.  Mel Brooks

~  I very often regret the kind of person I was when I was younger.

~  I am very easy to please when it comes to food.  Give me pizza, a burger, some bbq or chinese food & I am content.

~  If I could afford it, I would love to try my hand at cosplay.

~  I have spent over a year in a homeless shelter.  It was one of the most traumatic experiences I have had to endure.  It still gives me bad dreams from time to time.
